The Central Lake Area is certainly the most popular area of Lake Como, a must see since the XVIII century “Grand Tour d’Italie” which bought in visit European nobles and literates.
Absolute protagonists of the route are the sumptuous villas that dominate the landscape and give, with their lush gardens, color and atmosphere unique in their kind.
The most important is the famous Villa Carlotta, between the towns of Tremezzo and Cadenabbia.

Menaggio is a place of great interest too and connects the Lake Como area to the nearby Switzerland.It’s is a city full of charm and also a destination for explorers and trekking lovers. In front of menaggio stands Bellagio, also known as “The Pearl of Lake Como” It’s situated on the peaked headland that divides the two arms of the lake. This enchanting position, the superb villas, the cluster of old houses, the lush vegetation made this place a village famous all over the world.On the Eastern Lake bank is highly recommended a visit of Varenna a little villages that reflects on the blue water of Lario. Little pears where art and history embrace a territory that remained intact over the centuries.

Varenna: the pearl of Lake Como
The most famous town of the Lake Como East Coast. It’s an old fishermann’s village with a beautiful historcal centre and its two villas: Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi. Now It’s a famous touristic centre with a lot of nice hotels and gourmet restaurants.

Visit of Villa Monastero
It’s built on the ruins of an ancient circestian monastry, located in an extremly panoramic position in the centre of the lake Como and framed by a garden of very dense design, and often used for study and research activities, important conventions and congresses.

Visit of Villa Cipressi
It’s a complex of buildings and gardens rich in history, built between 1400 and 1800. It still has a wonderful botanic garden that lies on different levels and offers an enchating landscape In the central lake.

Situated on the lakeshore, this villa was built for Duke Francesco Melzi d’Eril and today. It’s still a private property. It’s possible to visit the magnificent garden with terraces, tropical plants and sculture.

Visit of Villa Serbelloni
Situated in the upper part of Bellagio and It’s utilized for conferences and studies. The big park is accessible to the public and occupies a great part of the headland.

Visit of Tremezzo
Situated in the panoramic central area of the Lake known as “Tremezzina”. Its protected position in a natural bay with a a mild climate has always permitted the cultivation of plants and flowers from all over the world. Tremezzo in 2010 was inducted in the association “I Borghi più belli d’Italia”.

Visit of Villa Carlotta
The most important villa of the central Lake Area. Worth a visit its sumptuous gardens, with over 150 varieties of azaleas, and the rooms inside where take place masterpieces from the neoclassical period including sculptures by Canova and paintings by Hayez.
