Visit of the Archaeological Museum
The development of Roman Como is attested by the rich collection of the Archaeological Museum P. Giovio, Piazza Medaglie d'Oro.

Visit of the Pinacoteca, Civic Art Gallery
The Pinacoteca, Civic Art Gallery, situated in Via Diaz, displays works of local art dating back from the 7th century until nowadays with masterpieces of the Middle Age and Renaissance times. An interesting section hosts the works of the Como group of artists of the 20th century.

Visit of the Cathedral
Como’s historic centre, the so-called old city, is rich in monuments and artworks, located inside the antique medieval walls. Among all of them the most impressive is the Cathedral situated on the Duomo square.

Estimated time of visiting: 30min
Transfer: the historical centre is a pedestrian area. Parking (with fee) in the sourroundings. By foot inside the ancient walls
Visit of San Fedele Basilica
Antique center of the medieval city, Piazza San Fedele hosts the homonymous church. The structure of the basilica follows the lines of the Romanesque style.

Transfer: from the cathedral 5/10min by foot to Piazza San Fedele

Porta Torre and the city market
At the edge of the old city is the Porta Torre, found in the centre of the powerful walls which Federico Barbarossa founded in the twelfth century to protect the city of Como.
Along the ancient walls takes place the interesting city market on tuesday and thurstday mornings and saturdays the whole day long.

Transfer: by foot 5-10min to Porta Torre and the market

Visit of the Volta Temple
From Piazza Cavour walking along the lake you see the public gardens with the Voltiano Temple, the museum devoted to the Como scientist Alessandro Volta.

The promenade of the villas
After the visit of the Volta Temple in walking distance (5 min.) you reach the Aero Club Como, from where the famous hydroplanes fly, and where the walk towards Villa Olmo begins. The promenade is overlooked by numerous villas.

Visit of Villa Olmo
The walk ends at the gates of Como’s most famous neoclassical house, Villa Olmo. It is one of the most representative neoclassical buildings of Lake Como, built at the end of 1700 by Simone Cantoni for the Odescalchi family.
