Le "Margheritine", il tipico biscotto del Lago Maggiore

The "Margheritine" are typical biscuits of Stresa, created in 1857 by confectioner Pietro Antonio Bolongaro, owner of the namesake bakery. Their name come from the future queen Princess Margaret, which were offered on the occasion of her first communion, celebrated in 1857. She liked them so much that, once became queen, she decided those cookies would have been the traditional sweets to offer each year in occasion of the Feast of the Assumption in the Royal House.

The ingredients are sieved hard-boiled egg yolk, butter, flour, starch, vanilla and lemon zest.
